The "Bataille de Paradis" Room

The "Bataille de Paradis" Room is located adjacent to the church in the centre of the village of Le Paradis.

The museum was the subject of an official civic opening on 26th May, 2018, by the Mayor of Lestrem, Monsieur Jacque Hurlus and his deputy, Monsieur Philippe Brouteele, together with representatives from the Royal Norfolk and Royal Scots' Regimental Associations.

The room contains boards which chart the events leading up to the heroic defence of Le Paradis by 2nd Battalion the Royal Norfolks, 1st Battalion the Royal Scots and other units, together with details of the massacre aftermath and the importance of the annual act of remembrance.

The boards also raise awareness of the significance of what this stoic rearguard action contributed to the successful evacuation of Dunkirk.

We are very pleased to be working alongside the organisers of the Bataille de Paradis Museum to bring you the fullest possible picture of the lead up to the massacre itself and the aftermath. A poster which is reproduced below advertising this web site will be on display in the museum.

In addition we are very proud to have permission to reproduce the display boards and these can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
